How We Treat
We use safe and effective treatments for neuromuscular conditions including chiropractic adjustments, IQ therapy, ultrasound therapy and rehabilitation techniques that will be tailored to your individual needs to achieve long term pain relief, improved mobility and better posture, for a better quality of life.
Chiropractic adjustments
A chiropractic adjustment involves the manipulation of the spinal vertebrae for those suffering back pain and neuromusculoskeletal conditions, with the objective of increasing the range of motion and function whilst reducing nerve irritability. During this procedure the two surfaces of a joint are moved apart, causing a change of pressure within the joint space. A chiropractic adjustment should not hurt, but you may hear a clicking noise due to small bubbles of gas popping when they are released from the joint.
The Impulse iQ Adjusting Instrument
Impulse adjusting is a new technique developed to deliver gentle and precise chiropractic adjustments to the joints of the spine and extremities. The Impulse iQ Adjusting Instrument is controlled by micro-computer circuitry within the device that produces a controlled force that chiropractors can use to treat different areas of the body. It can be used to treat patients of all ages, including children.
The Impulse iQ Adjusting Instrument does not cause any ‘cracking’ or ‘popping’ of the joints which can sometimes be heard with traditional chiropractic manipulation. It feels like a light tapping sensation and in most cases the treatment is painless.
Ultrasound Therapy
There are three potential benefits of ultrasound
1. The first is the increase in blood flow in the treated area which brings oxygen and nutrients to the damaged tissues, helping healing and regeneration.
2. The second is the decrease in pain and an increase in mobility from the reduction of swelling.
3. The third is the softening of any scar tissue or relief of muscle spasm which helps to improve general range of movement.
Conditions for which ultrasound may be used treatment include the following examples: ligament sprains, muscle strains, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, facet irritation, impingement syndrome, osteoarthritis and scar tissue adhesions.
Roller Table
The roller table consists of two sets of soft rubber wheels which move gently up and down the spine whilst the patient relaxes. This is a gentle form of traction to which a subtle vibration can be introduced at a controlled level. This helps to restore movement and gently release tension from the spine.
Rehabilitation techniques
We use rehabilitation exercises to restore the body’s strength and flexibility to normal after an accident or injury. These exercises can also be used to improve posture and reduce the likelihood of further injury. Exercise programmes are designed specifically with you in mind, so are different for every patient. Your chiropractor will assess your needs and guide you through your program step by step as we restore function back to your body.
Massage
Therapeutic massage releases tight fascia and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and improving lymphatic drainage. Massage techniques are commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows or forearms. It can be used for a variety of reasons, from a specific injury causing discomfort to general tension built up from day to day activities.
